We're looking over the shoulder of our main character, Joe, who's standing
on a balcony. In front of him lies the CITY OF THE FUTURE ™, a vast accumulation
of futuristic buildings, giant skyscrapers and strange, flying cars that
buzz around the houses like bees.
Joe is about thirty years old.
Caption:

Someone is standing behind him. It's a robot. A robot that looks like
a gorilla. A robot that looks like a gorilla and is dressed as a butler:
Roboapebutler.
Roboapebutler:
YOUR BREAKFAST IS READY.
Joe:
WHERE'S JULIANA?
Panel 3/Inset
He's following Roboapebutler into the building.
Roboapebutler:
SHE ALREADY LEFT FOR THE LAB. THERE SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THE
LIVING INVERTED BLACK HOLES.

Panel 1
Joe is sitting at the dinner table.
The room the table is situated in is a big, empty room. There's a door
in the wall behind Joe. To Joe's left, there's a big window through that
the city can be seen, and to his right, there's just a bare wall.
Joe isn't eating the food in front of him. He's just poking it with
his fork, waiting for it to move. Roboapebutler stands beside him.
Roboapebutler:
WHAT'S ON YOUR SCHEDULE FOR TODAY?
Joe:
THE USUAL. I'M GOING TO SIGN A CONTRACT WITH THE D'EEK, PROGRAM A NEW
AI, TALK TO MY DEAD PARENTS…
Panel 2
He's looking at his butler.
Joe:
WHAT ABOUT YOU?
Caption:
NOT THAT I EXPECTED AN INTERESTING ANSWER, BUT THERE WAS NO ONE ELSE
I COULD TALK TO.
Panel 3
We get closer to Roboapebutler’s face.
Roboapebutler:
I DREAMED OF SHEEP LAST NIGHT, SO I'M GOING TO PERFORM A CHECK ON THE
LOGICAL CONSISTENCY OF MY BRAIN.

That comes as a surprise to Joe.
Joe:
YOU DID WHAT?
Caption:
AND THEN THE REAL MADNESS STARTED.

The wall to his right explodes.

There's a lot of dust in the air. Debris is lying on the table. Roboapebutler
has lost his head. Joe has taken cover behind his chair.
Intruder 1 (Off):
GREETINGS, AGENT 1928!
Panel 2
Two aliens step through the hole in the wall and into the dinning room.
They're dressed very similar to Joe, so apart from the big, nasty looking
ray guns they carry, their head are the only thing that exposes them as
people from another planet. Those heads seem to be made out of nothing
but eyes - big ones, small ones, human ones, and alien ones. Those aliens
make no fucking sense.
Intruder 1:
YOU PREPARED OUR OPERATIONS TO TAKE OVER 62,63% THIS PLANET VERY WELL.
Panel 3
He's coming out from behind the chair. Curiosity wins over fear.
Joe:
WHO ARE YOU? I NEVER MET YOU BEFORE!
Intruder 2:
YES, YOU DID.
Caption
HE WAS RIGHT. I HAVE VAGUE MEMORIES OF MEETING THEM IN A BAR SOME TIME
AGO.
Panel 4
Joe's appearance has changed - he now looks like one of them. Behind
him, in the background of the picture, we see the window.
Joe:
YOU'RE RIGHT. YOU STILL OWN ME A BEER.
Caption:
AND JUST WHEN THE SITUATION BECAME A LITTLE LESS STRANGE…

Same picture as the panel before. The window behind him explodes.

Panel 1
Five cops enter the dining room through the smashed window. Four of
them are dressed in body armor from head to toe. The ray guns they carry
look twice as menacing as those of the aliens.
The fifth policeman is called Alys. She only wears her uniform. The
small ray gun she holds in her hand doesn't look menacing at all. But her
face makes up for it.
Alys:
DROP YOUR GUNS!
Panel 2
Joe, still looking like an alien, has raised his hands. Alys is standing
right in front of him.
Joe:
I DON'T KNOW WHO THEY ARE!
Alys:
THANK YOU, SIR. WITHOUT YOUR HELP, WE WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN ABLE TO STOP
THEM.
Panel 3
Behind John, we see the two aliens being lead away in handcuffs.
Alys (Off):
THOSE BASTARDS WANTED TO TAKE OVER 63,62% OF THE WORLD.
Alys (Off):
NOT 62,63% LIKE THEY TOLD YOU.
Joe:
WHAT?
Panel 4
She's grabbing his head with both hands.
Alys:
DON'T YOU REMEMBER?
Joe:
REMEMBER WHAT?
Caption:
I SWEAR TO GOD, I NEVER SAW HER BEFORE.
Panel 5
She's pulling the eyes away from his face like a rubber mask. Underneath
this alien appearance lies Joe's human face.
Alys:
YOU'RE HUMAN-ALIEN HYBRID WITH A MECHANICAL BRAIN.
Caption:
NOT EVEN IN SOME BAR WHEN I WAS DRUNK.

While she presents the face she just pulled of to him, she smiles.
Caption:
NEVER.
Alys:
SEE?
Abendsen:
GET AWAY FROM HIM!

Panel 1
We look at the door (See Page 2/Panel 1). It has been kicked open by
and old white-haired man. The ray gun he is equipped with is looking even
nastier than those of the cops. And he's firing it...
Abendsen:
HAHAHAHAH!
Panel 2
A blast from the ray gun vaporizes the officer in front of Joe.
Caption:
I STOPPED THINKING AT THAT POINT.
Panel 3
Joe is still looking at the spot where Alys had been. Abendsen has
stopped firing and is standing in front of Joe now.
Abendsen:
DON'T WORRY, BROTHER. THEY WERE THE GHOSTS OF SOME ALIEN VAMPIRES FROM
ANOTHER DIMENSION.
Joe:
WHO ARE YOU?
Panel 4
Joe is watching Abendsen, who's jumping out of the window with a smile
on his face.
Abendsen:
I'M YOUR EVIL BROTHER'S EVIL TWIN'S FUTURE SELF.
Panel 5
Abendsen has wings now. He's flying away and waves goodbye to Joe.
Caption:
HE REALLY LOOKED LIKE MY BROTHER, SO THAT PROBABLY WAS THE TRUTH.
Panel 6
John is sitting at the table that is full of debris. The door Abendsen
kicked in can be seen behind him. We also see the destruction done to the
wall to his right and to the window to his left.
Caption:
THEN I SAT DOWN AND WAITED.

We're still in the room and Joe is still sitting at the table. But
now Juliana is there, too.
Joe:
WAITED FOR YOU TO COME HOME.
Panel 2
He's crying now.
Joe:
THIS DAY DOESN'T MAKE ANY FUCKING SENSE!
Panel 3
She's holding him in her arms.
Juliana:
I MIGHT BE ABLE TO EXPLAIN THAT.
Panel 4
We get closer to her face.
Juliana:
TWO OF OUR LIVING INVERTED BLACK HOLES MATED. BY DOING SO, THEY SPAWNED
AN INVERTED INVERTED BLACK HOLE THAT SUCKED OUT ALL THE LOGIC IN THE UNIVERSE.
Panel 5
He looks at her triumphant smile with the same puzzled expression he
showed throughout the story.
Joe:
BUT THAT DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE.
Juliana:
SEE?

They kiss.
